WEEKEND PREVIEW: WILL MACINTYRE TAKES ON SILVERSTONE
As GB3 returned to Silverstone, Will Macintyre delivered a determined performance, rounding out the weekend with fifth, sixth, and ninth place finishes across the three races.
QUALIFYING & PRE‑WEEKEND MOMENTUM
Macintyre came into the weekend off the back of topping the Friday test session – a strong 1m53.631s benchmark that placed him just over a tenth clear of championship leader Alex Ninovic. Qualifying proved tightly contested, despite two strong efforts; he narrowly missed the top 10 in both sessions, lining up mid‑pack for the first two races.
RACE 1: 5TH PLACE
Starting just outside the top ten, Will fought his way into the top five as battles unfolded ahead. Though he briefly threatened the podium in the latter stages, time ran out, and he had to settle for fifth, crossing the line about 7.3 seconds behind the dominant Alex Ninovic.
RACE 2: 6TH PLACE (PENALTY APPLIED)
Rising through the field into the top five, Macintyre was among the driver’s navigating chaos as the leaders tangled. Classified initially as fifth, he later received a one‑position penalty for track limits, relegating him to sixth in the final rundown – still a solid result in a race where mistakes were many.
RACE 3: 9TH PLACE
In the reverse‑grid finale, Will launched into the top 10 early and then made a strong late charge to beat Michael Shin and Enzo Tarnvanichkul, eventually crossing in ninth place.
LOOKING AHEAD
This Silverstone outing adds to a season in which Macintyre continues to build consistency and experience. While a podium didn’t materialise this time, his ability to thread through traffic, manage pressure, and emerge with valuable points underlines both talent and promise. Macintyre is now sitting at 5th in the overall driver standings and with the GB3 season moving forward, another strong weekend could be just around the corner.
